ZOMBIELAND : THE SERIES TV REVIEW!

I’m a huge fan of the 2009 Zombieland movie, it was funny and probably the best zombie movie out there and Amazon decided to order a pilot on it, but does it live up?

Zombieland: The Series takes place weeks after the original movie and focuses on the characters that we learned to love trying to settle down during a zombie Apocalypse. Sounds legit right? But who would guess that a different cast would bring the potential of this show down.

The acting in this pilot would be good if it wasn’t for the performances on previous films; we are used to seeing Jesse Eisenberg playing Columbus not the Jesse Eisenberg imitator on the pilot which acts like him but it feels wrong and not relatable. Kirk Ward was good at Tallahassee though and as for the girls, the main one was fine (Wichita) and her sister (Little Rock)was terrible.

This show tries to recapture the feeling of the original motion picture by adding the “Rules to Surviving Zombieland” but in the movie Columbus is narrating it, in this he actually mentions it a couple of times and it takes away.

Another down is the characters mention Zombieland as Zombieland which of course took away the realism, on the movie Columbus narrated it every time he said it so it worked.

The beginning was pretty funny and awesome but as for the rest it was really average. If you compare it to the movie it’s terrible.

When they announced the show I thought it would be a good idea, then I saw the trailer and as soon as Tallahassee is all like “Zombie kill of the week?” and Little Rock answers “Week isn’t over yet!” I just slapped myself.

The show could have some potential if it went on but if I hadn’t seen the movie I would not be invested in the characters. Amazon should go on with the series though, I doubt that they have anything better than this. It’s the zombie show we probably deserve but not the one we want, The Walking Dead’s out there and it’s still better than this.

The series could progress though, it could become much better, if it makes it which it probably will not and if it does I will still wait for the progress. It has potential for sure, the opening sequence of the show was truly good, and the rest was just not good. If you watch this you will not get the sequel you want.

So overall

“Zombieland: The Series is a nice idea but fails to recapture the charm of the original film that we love.”

6/10 (Average; Not good, not bad)
