WHAT IF DEXTER SEASON 8 WAS GOOD? (PART ONE)

I've already reviewed The Final Season of Dexter and like most people i found it to be really disappointing.

I have also done an article called 5 Ways Breaking Bad Should Not End. Then i thought to myself; how could have Dexter possibly ended in order to save this season? And here we are.

Except there's a little issue here. This season simply blows. Arcs go nowhere and i was really let down. Then i thought; What Could have been done differently in order to save this season?

So i went to Wikipedia and looked at each episode. I decided to make my own Final Season and you can feel free to judge it.

Episode 1:

A month after killing LaGuerta, a shattered and guilt-ridden Debra has quit her job at Miami Metro and joined a private investigation company. In her absence, Batista has returned from retirement and become Lieutenant.Miami Metro investigates a new serial killer, the "Brain Surgeon", and receives unexpected help from psychopath expert Evelyn Vogel (Charlotte Rampling), who appears to have a special interest in Dexter. Dexter warns Debra that Briggs is working with a dangerous mob hitman, but ends up going after Briggs and killing him due to his concern of Debra, which pushes Deb and Dexter further apart. Dexter goes on to investigate Vogel but he is then confronted by her with murderous drawings from his childhood, and she reveals that she knows about Harry's Code.

Episode 2:

Vogel reveals to Dexter that she helped Harry create his Code, harboring a perverse interest and admiration for psychopaths. She asks Dexter to track down the Brain Surgeon, whom she believes to be one of her former patients and a grave hazard to her life but Dexter refuses claiming he has to fix things with his sister first. Debra has a violent confrontation with the hitman Briggs was working with and eventually murders him; Dexter finds her blood at the crime scene, but hides it from the police. After agreeing to help Vogel, Dexter tracks down one of Vogel's patients, Lyle Sussman, whom he believes is the Brain Surgeon, but discovers he has been murdered and his brain has been removed. Vogel and Dexter find a DVD from the Brain Surgeon, showing the killer killing Sussman and the remains of his brains stay a mistery.

Episode 3:

Miami Metro closes the Brain Surgeon case after Dexter dumps Sussman's body on the ocean and there are no more apparent killings.Debra spirals out of control and, despite Dexter's attempts to reconcile their relationship, tries to confess to killing LaGuerta; Dexter arrives and stops her, leaving her with Vogel for psychiatric treatment. Quinn's preoccupation with Debra causes friction between himself and Jamie (his girlfriend). Vogel receives the brain parts of the Brain Surgeon's first victim.

Episode 4:

Miami Metro investigates the murder of one Norma Rivera. Dexter meets  his new neighbor Cassie who appears to be attracted to him. Vogel begins Debra's treatment by taking her to the shipping container where she killed LaGuerta. Upon learning that Harry committed suicide because of Dexter, Debra tries to kill both herself and Dexter but Dexter manages to escape and saves her. Vince Masuka receives a visit from his daughter of a sperm donation. Debra goes to Vogel's place to find that someone broke in and immediately calls Dexter.

Episode 5:

Dexter attends Vogel's house to find her asleep with no memory of the incident. Debra tells Dexter that she still hates him. After a fight Quinn and Jamie leave in a bad note.Vogel tries to sort things out for Dexter and Debra with a therapy session, but Dexter angrily walks out. Miami Metro steps up its investigation of Norma Rivera's murderer; they target her boss Ed Hamilton, with whom she was having an affair, but Matthews asks Quinn to overlook Hamilton because he is a friend of the department. Quinn finds interest in Masukas new daughtern Nikki and seems attracted to her.Dexter suspects that Hamilton's son, Zach, is the real killer and finds evidence that Zach beat her to death. As Dexter prepares himself to kill Zach, Vogel interrupts saying that she finds potential in him saying she believes he can learn the code.

Episode 6:

Debra helps her boss, Elway, to catch his sister's boyfriend in the act of adultery and he shows apparent attraction to Debra. Quinn decides to go out with Masuka and his daughter and ends up having sex with her at his apartment which leads to Quinn and Jamie breaking up.  Zach admits he killed Norma because she was sleeping with his father, which is causing his mother to drink herself to death; Dexter then decides to teach Zach the Code as he sees himself in Zach. Dexter comes home to find a dead Zach Hamilton missing brain parts. Quinn calls Nikki to say that what they did was wrong. She does not pick up the phone and two brain parts are shown in her apartment as she sleeps.

  3. This would have started the season sooner, gotten our attention and would be faithful to the show. When you can write a better season then the show did, that just proves how disappointing it was.

    Loved this!
