ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT SEASON 4 REVIEW

After seven years of being cancelled, the Bluths are back after losing everything once again but this time they'll have to keep themselves together.

I was really a fan of Arrested Development seasons 1-3 as i said in my review. I watched it just before i watched season 4 and right off the bat i have to say that season 4 nailed it.

Everyone from the cast just jumps right back into character perfectly. Acting is really not a problem and you get a lot of cameos and jokes from the previous seasons but i wish this season was somehow more original with the jokes.

When i started watching Season 4 it was tough, it just wasn't really funny and it fell off. This, of course is because each episode is focused on one character's point of view, so if he meets another character, that other character will have different reasons for being there.

All the episodes happen at the same time and the producers said you can watch them at any order but i disagree. One of the greatest things about Season 4 is that you have a scene early one with a character then in a later episode that scene is not what you thought because other things are happening and it's a big crossover.

The crossover thing did it for me, i loved it but because it crosses over with everything that HAPPENED you can't love Season 4 from the beginning, you have to push yourself through episodes and it's not because they are BAD it is because it didn't make sense yet. EVERY scene i had a problem with later made sense in a funny Arrested Development way.

That does also mean that you get to see great characters way less like GOB or Buster. If you weren't a fan of Buster like me when you watch Season 4 he just has some laugh out loud moments in this season.

Another problem i have is that i expected a finale, all the individual episodes and then a finale so the show can explain the timeline better or something and it doesn't. The last episode is a normal Season 4 episode like all the others which you would think means that you can watch them in any order but the order is PERFECT, the reveals are PERFECTLY set out. WATCH IT IN THE PROPER ORDER.

Another problem i have is that since this season shows in each episode what this character has been doing for the past 7 years, some of them like Michael Cera just can't look young. Young George Michael really took me off specially when they show old footage and this guy has clearly hit puberty. Not his fault and i can't blame the show for that but it did feel awkward.

Season 4 had classic Arrested Development moments and because there isn't really a finale i hope there's a new season possibly carried by Netflix and this new season should return to normal as now we know what's been going on with the Bluths.

So overall

"After being cancelled for seven years Arrested Development takes a little while to show that it hasn't lost it's charm or humor in this classic non-linear season."

8/10
