WHAT IF DEXTER SEASON 8 WAS GOOD (PART 2)

I've already reviewed The Final Season of Dexter and like most people i found it to be really disappointing.

I have also done an article called 5 Ways Breaking Bad Should Not End. Then i thought to myself; how could have Dexter possibly ended in order to save this season? And here we are.

Except there's a little issue here. This season simply blows. Arcs go nowhere and i was really let down. Then i thought; What Could have been done differently in order to save this season?

So i went to Wikipedia and looked at each episode. I decided to make my own Final Season and you can feel free to judge it. I couldn't go completely off track with it because i wanted to improve on the Season, not just make my own.

THIS IS MY TAKE ON EPISODES 7-12 (SEE PART ONE HERE)

Episode 7:

After dumping Zach's body on the ocean Dexter believes to have seen Hannah McKay after a day at Miami Metro. Dexter goes on to alert Debra of the matter. After an argument Dexter leaves Deb's place. As he arrives home with his son Harrison ,he meets his neighbor's boyfriend Oliver Saxon. Debra informs her boss of Hannah's return to Miami and after seeming to be followed by Hannah, Debra tries to arrest Hannah, but stops when Hannah convinces her that she loves Dexter. Afterward, Dexter is contacted by Hannah who tells him to meet her at her hotel room, where they have sex and reconcile. Dexter receives a call to a crime scene only to find out his neighbor Cassie has been murdered by the Brain Surgeon.

Episode 8:

Dexter suspects Cassie's boyfriend Oliver Saxon may be the killer and tracks him down as he senses the dark passenger in him. Batista catches Dexter following Saxon and opens up to him about LaGuerta's death and how their relationship has distanced over the years. Debra announces to her boss that she is dropping leads on Hannah McKay and he disagrees with her decision. Dexter finds evidence that Saxon may be Vogel's long lost son and after informing Vogel of that, the two confront each other. Saxon tells Dexter to leave him alone but Dexter says he cannot let him go after what he did to both Zach and Cassie. Saxon tells Dexter that he left him no choice and tells him to watch the news. After Saxon leaves Dexter calls Debra and tells her to look after Harrison. Dexter turns on the tv only to find that Hannah McKay has been murdered and as Dexter's blood was found on the crime scene, he is the prime suspect.

Episode 9:

A desperate Dexter searches for Vogel who tells her Saxon's story. As he continues to be chased by the police Dexter manages to contact Debra and alert her of Saxon otherwise known as Daniel Vogel. Debra later visits Miami Metro and confronts an extremely angry and confused Batista who interrogates her about her brother. Elway alerts a Federal Marshal to spy on Debra as she may still be in contact with Dexter.  Dexter makes plans to leave Miami forever and take Harrison with him, but not before finding and killing Saxon. Unbeknownst to Dexter, Saxon has reunited with Vogel, who accepts him into her home.

Episode 10:

Saxon asks Vogel to help him like she helped Dexter. Dexter who continues to hide from the police continues to plan his way out of Miami. Debra returns to Miami Metro and rekindles her relationship with Quinn, who has broken up with Jamie and manages to put a tracking device in a "being interrogated" Saxon. Despite her desire to help Saxon, Vogel decides to betray him after Dexter shows her the video of Zach's murder. Vogel brings Saxon to her house as a trap, but he quickly realizes he is being set up. When Dexter arrives, Saxon murders Vogel and escapes. As Dexter grieves for Vogels death, Dexter decides he will kill Saxon no matter what it costs.

Episode 11:

The hunt for Dexter Morgan continues as Elway and Clayton (Federal Marshal) suspect that Debra is harboring him. Saxon offers Dexter a deal that the two will leave each other alone; Dexter once again refuses and after a fight with Saxon manages to knock him out. As he prepares the kill room Saxon wakes up and tells Dexter that he called the police before confronting him and that his call will be traced soon. Dexter leaves but not before killing Saxon. Nikki (Masuka's daughter) arrives to see a dead Saxon and cries. As Debra arrives before the police (having traced Saxon's phone) she is shot by an angry Nikki who reveals to have an affair with Saxon. Elway and the Federal Marshal arrive to see a dying Debra, a dead Saxon and Nikki who is arrested.

Episode 12:

Dexter infiltrates the hospital and manages to talk to a dying Debra who reveals that Nikki worked with Saxon on the Brain Surgeon killings. Dexter decides to give himself up to the Miami Metro and uses his old relationship with Batista to convince him that Saxon and Nikki worked on the Brain Surgeon killings and set him up after he found out. Masuka confronts Dexter and tells Miami Metro to do whatever is nescessary to track down Nikki. Debra wakes up to see Dexter and finally forgives him for what he is. Dexter then decides to go after Nikki but then changes his mind about killing her and after capturing her leaves her to Debra who arrests her. Dexter announces his departure from Miami Metro but does not say goodbye to Debra. Masuka grieves over his daughter who turned out to be the Brain Surgeon and Debra asks Batista to be reassigned to Miami Metro which he gladly accepts. Debra then finds out about Dexter's departure and rushes to her apartment. Dexter is shown leaving on The Slice of Life with Harrison moving to a new life. Debra discovers a family picture left by Dexter and accepts her brothers future.

A few months later Dexter is shown in an unmentioned place. He captures yet another killer and kills him. He arrives in his new home and puts Harrison to sleep. He opens his collected blood case and new blood slides seem to be in there from recent killings. He puts the last one in there and looks at a picture of him and Deb.
Dexter dumps the killer's body in the ocean claiming he finally got his life balanced but he does not know for how long.

What did you think of my version of Season 8? Do you like it? Do you hate it?

I would really appreciate if you shared this with your friends and maybe gave some feedback in the comment section!

  1. You killed Hannah! The initial season was great till he decided to break his deal with Saxon by trying to kill him. He should have left Saxon alone. I liked your alternate ending a lot more than the original, but I would like it a lot more if Hannah was still in it.

    1. Hannah is a terrible character that makes no sense. You just like Yvonne Strahovski.
