THE WOLVERINE MOVIE REVIEW

Summoned to Japan by an old acquaintance, Wolverine becomes embroiled in a conflict that forces him to confront his own demons.
I was not exited by the trailers of The Wolverine, in fact, i didn't really are for it since i heard what it was about and it wasn't until more recently where i became more comfortable with it.
The Wolverine is a second try at a story that focuses more on the character and makes us understand him more and care about him.
I wasn't a big fan of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, i don't hate it, i just think that it wasn't the movie we were expecting although i like the idea of a Wolverine origin story, i guess that movie didn't focus on Wolverine enough and had too many mutants.
The Wolverine surprised me. It wasn't simply a good Wolverine, it was a good movie in general.
Although i prefer X-Men first class i can understand if some people prefer The Wolverine as the best movie in the franchise.
I do think it's unfair to compare it to the other movies, unless you are talking about X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
This movie is so different to any other comic book movie you've seen recently.
Hugh Jackman gives his best performance as Logan easily.
The Japan theme really worked well and it has that feel of the Japanese culture in it, but it's still got the "cool aspect".
The film takes itself seriously and i was loving it during my viewing. Then the film reaches a point in the last 30 minutes and it gets more like a comic book, some of those scenes are in the trailer but i think if they marketed the film as the serious film it is for the most part it would have gotten me interested.
I guess i was expecting this film to be average. As i said, big surprise.
The film does an amazing job at showing a damaged Wolverine who can get hurt having to fight his enemies although he is weak.
This is the first film that i think that the character of Wolverine couldn't have been better portrayed in a movie. This IS the Wolverine.
Plus, when he stabs someone there's actually blood. Makes all the difference when you are trying to get serious with a film.
So overall:
"The Wolverine does a great job at telling a well acted story about a damaged Logan trying to get back to what he was. Hugh Jackman's best performance yet and the biggest surprise of the year so far."
8.5/10 (Great)
