THE HOBBIT : AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY MOVIE REVIEW

The wait is over, but was it worth it?

The Hobbit : A Unexpected Journey is part1 of a trilogy which preludes The Lord of The Rings saga.

Bilbo Baggins is chosen by Gandalf The Grey to be the burglar in an unexpected adventure with 13 dwarves to steal their treasure back from the dragon Smaug.

Now i'm a big time Lord of The Rings fan, but the critics for this movie got me so disapointed. They mention the fact that it's filmed in 48fps in which i actually thought was bad for the mvoie because it took people away. I felt i was in Middle Earth more than i was in Pandora when i watched Avatar. i re-saw it in 24 fps and i liked it more

The acting in this film is brilliant, nobody let me down, the best performance was Martin Freeman as Bilbo who really is Bilbo. If you read the hobbit book, he is perfect for this role, Ian H. played Bilbo in The Lord of The Rings, and i really disliked Bilbo. Fortunately in the Hobbit i loved him.

Peter Jackson does an amazing job at directing the movie again. Middle Earth is as Jackson's as it is Tolkien's. He overused CGI a bit with the pale orc, but ignore it. However he made the tone of this film more childish, and to be honest i get it. The picture in this movie is "There is no war", it's a light Middle-Earth, like in the beginning of The Fellowship of the Ring. Plus it's a child's book. However, LOTR fans will still love it.

The movie takes it's time to start but when it does, is just iconically brilliant. There are 13 dwarves and unlike the Fellowship you can't tell the personality of everyone, but the fist time i watched the Fellowship of the Ring i thought Boromir was a dick so i think time will heal that. But the leader of the dwarves Thorin Oakenshield rocks.

Best scene of the movie would be Riddles in The Dark where we meet Gollum again and he is better than ever. First he is funny, then he is scarry then you feel sorry for him and he makes you laugh. You totaly forget how evil he was in The Return of The King.

The ring is still present, it amazingly ties in with The Lord of the Rings!

So overall

"The Hobbit : An Unexpected Adventure is a good welcome to Middle Earth, with great acting and a lighter tone  It will please any Lord of the Rings fans as well as Tolkiens."

8.5/10 (very good)
