OZ THE GREAT AND THE POWERFUL MOVIE REVIEW

The official prequel to the Wizard of Oz, with the director of Spider Man 3.

Oz The Great and the Powerful stars James Franco, Mila Kunis and someother people and it's about James Franco being a magician who wants to be a great man and inspire people, he sets off in a balloon and we go to Oz.

I enjoyed the hell out of this film, firstly because The Wizard of Oz is a classic and it came out in 1939 and it really feels like a classic whilst this prequel being made in 2013 does not and it has a whole different tone to it and brings kids back to Oz.

James Franco was really good in the movie, Rachel Weisz is in it, Mila Kunis played a role that first seems generic then it surprises you. Some of the side characters are really good in this movie specially the monkey.

I thought the ending was unexpected in a good way and it left me wanting to see the original movie.

The CGI was cheap, and i guess kid's won't mind so that's not a big thing.

There could have been more references to the original but this is a great prequel and the first twenty minutes were in black and white and that was absolutely awesome.

(7.9/10) "Oz The Great and the Powerful did it's job well as a prequel but tonasticaly failed to represent Oz since the movie is green-screened and takes away from the experience of Oz. But overall it is really enjoyable with great performances and side characters".
