This is a full spoiler review on Iron Man 3, if you haven’t

So Iron Man 3 came out and I said that this movie would piss
off a lot of people, when I said that I was mainly talking about the twist that
happens half way through the movie when it’s revealed that Ben Kingsley
character otherwise known as the Mandarin was just a distraction, he never
existed. The problem is he is like the Joker to Iron Man, and fans of the Iron
Man comics wouldn’t really like that.
I don’t know much about the Iron Man comics apart that the
Mandarin is the leader of the Ten Rings and he has a bunch of rings with
magical powers.
I remember looking two years ago an article on Iron Man 3
saying that it was decided the Mandarin would be the main antagonist, and when
I saw the twist I was REALLY on board. Why? It was different, and honestly
nobody expected it, whether you liked it or not, I was surprised.
In my review of Iron Man 3 I rated it as great entertainment
for the summer. I stick to my rating, but I do wish they did the twist
differently.
People say that Kingsley would have been a great Mandarin,
but I think it would have been so predictable if the movie was just “Iron
Knight Rises” and he had to overcome his defeat and fight Kingsley, I loved how
Kingsley wasn’t The Mandarin.
The actual Mandarin
of this film is Aldrich Killian played by Guy Pearce and here’s why I come to
think that.
Firstly I thought that when he screamed “I Am The Mandarin!”
to Stark I thought the Mandarin did not exist. But then I saw an interview with
Guy Pearce saying that he was Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Mandarin and I
thought “Yes he is”.
1.
He is Iron Man’s biggest challenge
2.
He breathes fire
3.
Has a dragon tattoo
4.
Stark could not kill him due to his “powers
I know that four little bullet points don’t make him the
Mandarin, but he is not the Mandarin from the comics, he is just everything he
stands for; a challenge that Stark himself would not overcome and I love that.
Now I think that Aldrich Killian was a bad villain until the
end of the movie, and honestly I quite like how he felt underdeveloped until
the twist and how Potts killed him and not Stark.
People compared it to The Dark Knight Rises but I think that
Catwoman killing Bane was a bit off climax while Potts killing Killian just
proved that even Iron Man could not defeat him. It was different.
People would like to see the same as before even if it’s
been done thousands of times, and that’s why I loved Iron Man 3, for being
different to the others.
"Iron Man 3 is a great summer blockbuster for keeping you enternained with it's excellent comedic timing and mind blowing action sequences for long enough for you to love it and apreciate it's unique take on the story"
8.5/10 (Great)
