DOCTOR WHO: 12TH DOCTOR ANOUNCEMENT

One of the things Doctor Who does very well is keep things a secret. Matt Smith announced his retirement of the Doctor role earlier this year and the question rose; who will be the next Doctor?

BBC announced Sunday that the role will be taken by actor Peter Capaldi.

I have to say that overall i am happy with the choice they made, for one it's not a woman.

It was rumored over and over again that The Doctor would regenerate into a woman. I was very concerned with this choice and i just thought it would be too risky and that it probably should never happen. But it has been rumored so much, how could they not cast a woman?

Apparently it didn't matter.

Peter Capaldi has been on Doctor Who before, unlike Matt Smith he is a long-time fan of the show and he seems like a fine choice for the Doctor.

However, one of the problems i have with Doctor Who is that once you start watching it, the Doctor you start with is your Doctor. For me it's Matt Smith, not only because he was a funny Doctor and when he got serious or dramatic it was really powerful but because he was funny the show was darker in order to balance it.

David Tennant was a great Doctor but the show at the time wasn't at it's best although we had some very strong episodes.

I think Peter Capaldi will be more similar to Christopher Eccleston's Doctor and that's fine but i hope he does something new to the character like Tennant and Smith did.

I'm pretty happy with the choice and will give Capaldi a chance.

What did you think of the casting news? Did you like the choice?
