PERCY JACKSON AND THE SEA OF MONSTERS MOVIE REVIEW

In order to restore their dying safe haven, the son of Poseidon and his friends embark on a quest to the Sea of Monsters to find the mythical Golden Fleece while trying to stop an ancient evil from rising.
I wasn't a fan of the first Percy Jackson movie. It had bad acting and frankly it just wasn't for ME. When i came into this one i could see they were trying to make it more similar to books but it came out being the same thing.
I want to say that i really like what they did to the character of Grover in the film, he was one of my favorite parts and he's interaction with Percy was decent.
There are just couple of things in this movie which made it really for teenagers and it's hard for critics to like the movie.
The character of Annabeth was so serious the whole way through that it kept taking me out of the film for no reason. The character of Tyler was so bad that it felt they only put him in there because he was in the book so he NEEDED to be there. He didn't add to the story and some of his lines came out completely forced and made me slap myself.
This movie has many "saved by the last minute" moments which teenagers will really get into and you won't.
The computer graphics were reasonable, they still looked like computer graphics.
It was fun to see some of the changes they made to the story, the overall plot of the film was decent it was just constantly trying to get teenagers to love it.
I did enjoy some parts of it but Percy Jackson isn't the new Harry Potter. You won't fall in love with any character and it's an enjoyable time.
If you're going to take your eight year old to see a film, choose this over The Smurfs 2.
Nathan Fillion's little cameo was the best part of the film.
The villain in this film, Luke was horrible. That kid shouldn't get anymore work on his life. Seriously, the only time that kid did something decent was in CW's Supernatural.
So overall:
"Percy Jackson and The Sea Of Monsters can be enjoyable with you watch it on Netflix but you really shouldn't see it the theaters. This movie will attract teens and has some enjoyable moments but you can just ignore it and go to sleep without any guilt."
Another movie this year which falls in the pit of AVERAGENESS
6/10 (Average)
