I want to start this post by saying i have not seen every movie this year. But i've seen the big one's and the ones in this list deserve this place solidly for me. Those are MY favorites, Argo is probably better than Paranorman but i liked it more. I realise it's better as a film but i just prefer the one's in here.
So these are my favorite movies of the year.
10. Argo
Whilst watching Argo i was in the edge of my seat for the end of this film, Ben Affleck is a great director and i can see he had heart for this film, it was really tense and kind of patriotic, it got The Oscar it deserved. It's not my favorite film of the year, but i did like it a LOT.
9. The Cabin in The Woods.
The Cabin in The Woods blew me away with its geat dialogue and twisting plot. It's not a horror movie but it showed us how much the horror genre was cheated with cliches and dumb gore. I absolutely loved this film and it might not deserve to be here but hey, it's my personal list of the films i enjoyed in 2012.
I'll probably watch this every year along with the next film on this list which is
8. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
The Hobbit is a movie which i have reviewed on the blog and i totally think it deserves to be number eight. It has been totally misjudged, Lord of The Rings fans say it's childish which it should be but leaving that out the end speech that Bilbo made to the dwarves just did for me.
7. Paranorman
Paranorman and Wreck it Ralph were the nominees for this place, although i liked Wreck it Ralph a lot, Paranorman was the animation with all the horror movie references and easter eggs, it had heart and as far as animation goes, it won it all for me.
6. Lincoln
I don't even need to explain my choice, great acting and dialogue, Daniel Day Lewis was the President, he was alive for two and a half hours, it was a history lesson but the best it could be.
5. Skyfall
Number five is Skyfall. My favorite Bond like many is Cassino Royale because in the end of that film James Bond really becomes the James Bond we know and has one night stands, he was cheated and it was a perfect beginning but Skyfall was the sequel to that. It had all the 60's references and it was just great.
4. The Avengers
Marvels six to year plan was probably the biggest movie of the year and left everyone with a huge superhero hangover. I wasn't a BIG fan of The Avengers for my own reasons but i really think it deserves number four for having all these characters they built up on. I didn't love The Avengers, i liked enough, but taking all these heroes together and putting them in a movie like this has to have it's recognition.
3. Looper
Looper was the most original sci-fi i have watched recently, the end was questionable but that's what so good about it. I thought it was great, don't make a sequel. The time travel elements made Looper be the modern Terminator.
2. Django Unchained
Nobody's is gonna question this one, i could not blink in this movie, it was Tarantino heaven for three hours, the adventures, the bounty hunting even the score. It was perfect and it was probably going to be number one but one movie just stole it.
1. The Dark Knight Rises
The Dark Knight Rises owns this place for me. I loved Batman Begins, i watched a zillion times and i could not wait until the Dark Knight came out. The Dark Knight was even better, what a great movie, the end still gives me chills with the speech. Rises was perhaps my least favorite but that is NOT saying a lot. I love this movie, the twists and the throw backs, it's not a Batman film, but it's about Bruce Wayne finding out the spirit to get back and i liked that, when he escaped it was just AWESOME.
Those are my favorite films of the year, i hope you enjoyed them and if so what are your favorite films?
