THE HANGOVER - PART 3 MOVIE REVIEW!

In the Hangover Part 3 Doug is kidnapped by a gang of drug dealers as insurance that the Wolfpack will find Chow who stole some money from them.

I really enjoyed the first Hangover film to come out in 2009 and the sequel felt like a rehash but the likeable characters took you through it although it was disappointing.

The Hangover Part 3 changes the formula of the entire series to make what should have been The Hangover- Part 2. This instalment has a thriller plot, which The Hangover is all about but because it’s different it feels more original and a lot easier to sit through and enjoy.

I really liked this movie because it explores the thriller part of the series more. The film opens itself with Ken Jeong (Mr.Chow) escaping from prison in a Shawshank Redemption style and it was really fun to watch. Ken Jeong is a great Chow but he feels so exaggerated and old. I remember watching the first Hangover film and enjoying the character of Chow but sometimes he is just too much to take in and makes us hard to love.

That also takes away the feeling finding out what these guys did when they were completely wasted, which it's fine. The film has the dark humor which was sometimes funny from the second one and the humor from the first as well which was great to see. A lot less laughs but you'll leave pretty happy.

The whole Wolfpack does a great job in the film, I always felt that the character of Doug was not used enough that does not change here. Bradley Cooper is as great as ever but he feels better for this kind of role, but The Hangover put him on the map so I don’t see why not finish it. Ed Helms was great in the film; the second instalment focuses on his character whilst this focuses mainly on Chow and Alan (Zach Galifanakis). Alan stole the show here he has some really funny scenes in this movie and so does Chow but it’s Alan who steals the show.

John Goodman is great in this movie and so is Mike Epps as Black Doug which brought the humor from the first movie back and made me laugh hard at points. There are a lot of fun cameos in this movie and if you did not smile when you saw some of these characters back it’s a shame because I think it’s a strong point in the movie.

People may not be as much into this movie as I was but if you really liked the first and the second was mediocre you might really like this one too.

It really feels like the last chapter of a trilogy, saying goodbye to these characters is sad and overall I was really entertained since The Hangover has such likeable characters  and it can’t be less than mediocre and I did laugh as much as I wanted to.

You might feel annoyed by Chow and I understand if you do but I think that seeing The Wolfpack in this thriller like plot interacting is just great, everyone from the first has appeared by this point. His character is a strong point in the plot, he is the big crazy baby in all of this.

I loved the fact that it takes place in Vegas and I think I gave this film a fairly good score compared to the last one which was a rehash. I think that if Part 2 was never made people would love this one.

“It may not be as funny or as good as the first, but The Hangover – Part 3 is definitely a good closing chapter to this series of misfortune.”

7.5/10 (Good but not Great)
