MONSTERS UNIVERSITY MOVIE REVIEW!

Monsters University takes a look at the relationship between Mike and Sulley during their days at University -- when they weren't necessarily the best of friends.

It’s been a couple years since Monsters Inc. came out, Pixar hasn’t been at its best lately so they just made a prequel to one of their classics, and that’s because we live on a world where people say why not.

That being said I see no reason why the movie isn’t a sequel, I know Monsters Inc. had a happy ending and no sequel was needed but that just proves my point that Pixar was playing safe and took no risks towards the film. They didn’t want to mess up these great characters so they just made an average prequel about it.

Monsters University does have its moments though, it’s not exactly an average movie. That does no mean that it’s an excuse for not being great, because great animations haven’t been on since Toy Story 3 and arguably ParaNorman.

The movie has it’s funny moments alright, it is fun in general but the story wraps up at one point and you think it’s over but it actually gets great and I started having fun, a lot of fun and the movie ended.

It’s great seeing Mike and Sulley interact when they when they were young but the film hasn’t got any affection for anyone who hasn’t seen Monsters Inc. and that’s why this years most anticipated animation ends up being disappointing simply for not being amazing. A lot of fun but not a LOT of fun.

So overall

“Monsters Unversity is a fun light-hearted prequel that never tries to live up to its predecessor until the final moments of the film”

8.0/10 (Great)
