Dusty is a cropdusting plane who dreams of competing in a famous aerial race. The problem? He is hopelessly afraid of heights. With the support of his mentor Skipper and a host of new friends, Dusty sets off to make his dreams come true.
Planes is a Cars spin-off yet it's not done by Pixar. This movie was meant to come out on DVD skipping the theaters but the studio likes money and the best way to advertise toys is by putting animation versions of them on the big screen.
Dane Cook is in this film and one of the things i liked about the movie is that it doesn't need to have the great movie stars in order to make the characters likable. Cook doesn't often reminder that he is the one behind the main character Dusty and he was pretty likable.
That being said, there isn't a lot to enjoy in Planes. Every aspect this movie has, other animations this year have done it better.
Honestly that shouldn't surprise anyone. This was a straight to DVD movie. The writers couldn't care less if it was good or not.
The 3D in this film is obviously converted and not very good. The film has every aspect that animations had recently and gives us nothing fresh. The movie felt a lot like Turbo.
The movie is kind of enjoyable but not worth seeing in the theaters at all.
I laughed a couple of times but no way near enough as i should have. This is Turbo with a bad version Cars but instead you planes.
So overall:
Disney's Planes is the animation version of an average DVD movie, if you watch it there are certain things you can enjoy but it won't live up to the animation standard.
6.0/10 (AVERAGE)
